Saturday Dinner

I think this meal was one of the worst that we’ve had in the last few months. I highly DO NOT recommend YellowFin Restaurant. It’s a poor excuse for a Japanese restaurant, go to Basara for better value for money any day. It’s full house and very trendy though, the drinks and cocktails looked better than the food. It was another late dinner, around 9.45pm (the noodles kept me going).

So here goes. My hot ocha, served in a cup which was way too hot to hold…

Yellowfin restaurant (supposed to be Japanese)

Then the miso soup arrived. It didn’t taste too bad but there were fishbones in it!! Who serves soup with bones!! Really poor form by the chef. The rolls were really only so-so.

Miso soup and some sort of tuna mayo spring roll concoction

Then a tomato salad with a supposed onion dressing. It looked a very messy, unappealing dish which also tasted like the vegetables were prepared by a chef who didn’t wash his hands after handling raw seafood. Disgusting We each had one or two bites to confirm what we thought and gave up on the rest. The asparagus with pork wrap was a tad salty but decent and we finished it because we were quite hungry by then.

Tomato with onion salad, bacon roll with asparagus

When hubs ordered sushi, he thought we were going to get a platter for the price. Well, it was the most expensive dish we had and it came out on 3 spoons. The first one is fish eggs, the second is ooni (sea urchin) and the third one is unrecognizable but we think it’s salmon. I ate half of the first and half of the third. I’m not a fan of ooni.

3 sushi combination

We decided not to risk ordering anything else…. and not to return until we can’t find another decent Japanese place nearby.
