Today had a late-ish lunch at Ozk’s. Ordered a set of cha soba and mini beef curry rice. Came as a set with all the condiments except soup. I also ate an extra salad because PUD didn’t want any.
Hot ocha to drink.

Japanese set lunch at Yuzu, KLCC today. I ordered a simple steak and garlic rice set. it came with chawan mushi and a miso soup.
Tonight HS bought me dinner at Kin-no-mizu at Intermark mall. He’s vegetarian so he ordered some sushi and we shared a sea weed salad. I had an unajyu all to myself.
Japanese green tea and shared a black sesame (Gomu) ice cream which they make themselves.
Woke up late on Saturday and ended up meeting AR and LR for lunch at PP mall again. They suggested Japanese and we went to Otomaki. I ordered a grilled chicken with rice and a simple soba set. Didnt like it very much, too much sticky sweet sauce and the noodles tasted instant. After that, joined their kids for a Haagen Daz ice cream, single scoop of choc choc chip in a cone.
We were too lazy to go out for dinner and I was undecided where to go after coming back from Birdcage (had 2 disappointing drinks there, won’t mention more).
So I cooked at home, we had a herbal steamed chicken to share (defrosted) and steamed corn on the cob (3 halves for me, 4 halves for hubs). Then grapes and apricot for dessert. I passed out on the sofa really early.
I had a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch at 10am because (like Ida) I suddenly get peckish moments too.
For lunch, AC and I went to Pavilion to Suki-ya to have shabu shabu. Our aim was to eat plenty of vegetables today. It’s a buffet so you help yourself. We had 2 platters of beef and 1 chicken, then 5 plates of vegetables comprising of tofu, spinach, tang or vegetables, carrots and cabbage. Delicious! One of the most healthy lunches I’ve had in a while. Finished off with some soft serve japanese ice cream.
Had to work late again, so no dinner, just had 20 mangosteens 🙂
Today we had lunch in the office as we had a meeting. Ordered in Bento Boxes from Ozeki.
Shared a chicken teriyaki (had 2 pcs), a 4cm piece of unagi (had this all to myself), some japanese rice, miso soup and some fruit. All in all it was pretty tasty and filling.
After that huge breakfast-brunch, we had a nice afternoon walk to burn off some of the calories. Then to dinner with friend J in K-town for Japanese food. We shared:
A kimchi hot pot, 1 serving shishamo, 1 serving edamame, 1 serving maki, 1 serving of gyoza, 1 serving of chicken cartilage, 1 serving ginko, 1 serving mixed teppan vegetables and 1 serving baked brinjal.
The brinjal was the weakest dish but we enjoyed all the rest. Servings are not large but we were very full at the end of the meal.
All with hot ocha.
After that, another nice romantic walk at the Peak as clear skies allowed us to see all the way across the harbour… very unusual and much appreciated.
We spent the afternoon very nicely at Suropati Park and did a walk around the neighborhood. It was hot and we stopped at Kunstring for a drink – had a twisted virgin blood mary. Then after wandering around we spotted the Morrisey hotel and decided to have dinner at Ocho & Bella ( I really wanted a pizza).
I did the ordering for food, hubs for drinks.
Truffle edamame, a cod karaage and a maki (hubs ate most of this). Then a pizza to share. We finished all! I had a fresh papaya juice.
At home for dessert, we shared 2 remaining boxes of durians…. so full after that!
5 of us at the Japanese restaurant in Tropicana. Sashimi and grilled skate, teriyaki cod and teppan mushrooms, miso soup (1bowl) and teppan black pepper tenderloin.
1 cup green tea, 1 cup water and 1 fresh orange juice.
I think this meal was one of the worst that we’ve had in the last few months. I highly DO NOT recommend YellowFin Restaurant. It’s a poor excuse for a Japanese restaurant, go to Basara for better value for money any day. It’s full house and very trendy though, the drinks and cocktails looked better than the food. It was another late dinner, around 9.45pm (the noodles kept me going).
So here goes. My hot ocha, served in a cup which was way too hot to hold…
Then the miso soup arrived. It didn’t taste too bad but there were fishbones in it!! Who serves soup with bones!! Really poor form by the chef. The rolls were really only so-so.
Then a tomato salad with a supposed onion dressing. It looked a very messy, unappealing dish which also tasted like the vegetables were prepared by a chef who didn’t wash his hands after handling raw seafood. Disgusting We each had one or two bites to confirm what we thought and gave up on the rest. The asparagus with pork wrap was a tad salty but decent and we finished it because we were quite hungry by then.
When hubs ordered sushi, he thought we were going to get a platter for the price. Well, it was the most expensive dish we had and it came out on 3 spoons. The first one is fish eggs, the second is ooni (sea urchin) and the third one is unrecognizable but we think it’s salmon. I ate half of the first and half of the third. I’m not a fan of ooni.
We decided not to risk ordering anything else…. and not to return until we can’t find another decent Japanese place nearby.
